App receives a boost to deliver waste calendar

The LGA has released version 1.3 of the My Local Services App which delivers a calendar view of the waste schedule and additional links that direct residents to other essential waste related information. All 46 participating councils will benefit from this upgrade to the App.

The LGA developed My Local Services App to deliver a range of information to the community, with a key feature being the waste schedule and related push notification reminders.

Ms Loren Mercier, Environmental Management Officer (Waste + Recycling) at the City of Charles Sturt saw an opportunity to build on the App’s many features to deliver a calendar view of the waste schedule that allows residents to flick through from month to month and view collection days for waste/recycling/organics for each collection week.

The LGA, City of Charles Sturt and a number of other metropolitan councils collaborated to fund this major enhancement. “By working in partnership with councils and the LGA we have delivered a great result for the local government sector” said Ms Mercier.

The latest version of the My Local Services App has also enabled participating councils to deliver key links that direct residents to other essential waste related information.
